Some things aren't up to us. Our business is.
"But when is the baby coming?"
I looked at the nervous, first-time father, not sure at first if he was joking. We'd been in the Birth Unit for about seven hours, and he was ready (more than ready) for something to happen. I dutifully interpreted his question to the nurse, and she gently explained that it wasn't up to him. Babies come when they're ready.
Some things are out of our hands. And sometimes, we just hope and pray for the best.
But there are some things we can control, especially in the way we do business.
We can DECIDE what type of business we want to build. We can CHOOSE what direction we want our business to grow toward. We can TAKE THE STEPS and IMPLEMENT THE TOOLS that will move the needle. It doesn't depend on others. As freelancers, WE make the call. It's up to us.
We don't have to hope and pray that this year will be different.
I believe that freelancers can control their financial destiny.
